Problem gambling awareness art contest

Ontario - Problem gambling harms more than 10,000 Oregon teens and 75,000 Oregon adults. There was a search for “calendar” artwork from middle school students to promote Oregon Problem Gambling Awareness. The deadline was March 30.

Lifeways Prevention Coordinator Andrea Lockner awarded local poster winners, Wednesday at Ontario Middle School.

The top 12 submissions will be included in a Special 2008 calendar that will be distributed throughout the state.

The students were encouraged to design with their own artwork and a positive message.

The students presented their artwork on letter size (11 inches by 8.5 inches) white paper. The prizes included: $50 gift certificate for calendar cover artwork, $25 gift certificates for other selected artwork, $100 gift certificate to teacher with most submissions and $75 gift certificate to teacher for special recognition.

Prizes were provided by the Oregon Problem Gambling Prevention Committee.
