ONTARIO - The Ontario Police Department has physical descriptions of a man and woman who allegedly attempted to rob an employee at Market Gerreros Thursday night with a knife.
As of Friday there had been no arrests in the incident and authorities are seeking public assistance in the case.
The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. at 106 S.E. Second St. and there were no injuries, Ontario Police Department Capt. Mark Alexander said Friday. The victim told police a man and woman initially entered the store around 6:20 p.m., asked what time the business closed for the night, and then departed.
The pair returned to the market around 7:20 p.m., Alexander said, when the male subject pulled a knife on an employee.
Alexander said the knife-wielding man allegedly pointed the weapon at the employee and demanded money; however, the employee was able to jerk the weapon away from the robber and run unharmed to another nearby business. The man and woman were unknown to the clerk, and the clerk was the only other person in the business at the time of the incident, Alexander said.
After the attempted robbery, the man and woman were seen by witnesses running north between NAPA Auto Parts and Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers in Ontario, Alexander said, and if apprehended they face potential charges of attempted first degree robbery.
Descriptions of the man and woman were relayed to police by witnesses, Alexander said, but some of the statements conflicted.
The white man was characterized as being in his late teens or early twenties, around 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-7, with short, dark hair, slight facial hair growth, glasses, blue jeans and a white t-shirt.
The woman was described as skinny, around 5-foot-4, in her late teens, with brown unkept hair in a bun, glasses and a dirty, unkept appearance.
She was described as wearing a multi-colored, nylon jacket that was colored pink, green and yellow, with green jeans, Alexander said.
Anyone with information on the attempted robbery Thursday night is encouraged to contact Ontario Police at (541) 889-5312, Alexander said.

And this isn't "racist," because Islam is not a race, anymore than Communism or Nazism are races, both of which killed far fewer people than Islam.
Disgusting. "
