There are a lot of projects and a great deal of research underway to produce alternative fuels and develop alternate sources of energy, but one Ontario man said he is already moving into the future with a new product that breaks traditional barriers and helps engines burn fuels in a more efficient manner.
Dale Hackbart said his brother in Bend referred Ethos FR, produced by Ethos Environmental Inc., San Diego, Calif., and he was almost immediately impressed.
Hackbart said his brother uses the product in both his fuel and engine oil. Ethos FR, called a non-toxic fuel reformulator, is billed as being a clean burning and environmentally safe product.
Hackbart said he tried the new product on his 1993 Toyota pickup, with 173,000 miles on it, and was sold. The first two test tries did not produce any results, he said, but he said he was advised to change his fuel filter, because the Ethos FR, loosens deposits in the fuel line.
“I went from 18 miles per gallon to 26 miles per gallon (on my next tank),” he said. “It cleans out your engine — it cleans out the carbon.”
Hackbart also claims the product helped his entire vehicle operate better.
“I discovered my truck was shifting smoother, starting easier and I virtually had no exhaust residue in my tailpipe,” he said.
Hackbart has now become a fulltime distributor and has bought stock in the company.
“I’ve just moved out here,” Hackbart, who came from West Des Moines, Iowa, said. “I used to restore antique furniture.”
Being closer to his son and grandsons brought him to Ontario, Hackbart said.
“Ethos FR is a 100 percent non-toxic, non-hazardous — non-petroleum based — fuel reformulator that cleans the entire engine system by burning 99.99976 percent clean up on ignition and is ashless upon combustion,” he said. “I’m concerned about the environment and how we are polluting it and the effects we are having on the ozone layer, resulting in global warming,” Hackbart said.
He estimates he will get 160 additional miles on each tank full (20 gallons) of gasoline.
“The engine temperature runs 30 degrees cooler,” he said. “It will not void warranties.”
Hackbart had considered replacing his Toyota pickup but has hung on to it and now uses it as a handy reference for the product. It will not be available in stores.
“It has gotten to be a business,” he said.
