A Caldwell man was injured Wednesday when he over-corrected the vehicle he was driving and rolled on Interstate 84.
The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. near the Black Canyon exit in southeastern Payette County. Pat Kelly, 50, was going east, in the left lane of I-84, when he left the roadway onto the left shoulder. Kelly, who was driving a Toyota Tercel, over-corrected to the right, crossing both lanes of eastbound I-84.
“His vehicle rotated as it crossed both lanes,” Payette County Cpl. Andy Creech said.
Creech said after Kelly over-corrected to the right, the front wheels to the Toyota dug in to the soft dirt on the right shoulder, causing the vehicle to roll once, before coming to rest upright in the ditch.
“(Kelly) was alert and conscious when law enforcement arrived,” Creech said.
Kelly, who Creech said was traveling from Ontario to Boise where he lives, was transported to Holy Rosary Medical Center by Payette County Paramedics. Kelly was later flown by Life Flight to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
“He was bleeding down the side of his head,” Creech said. “And he was complaining of some back pain.”
Creech said it was unclear what caused the accident, but did say he did not believe alcohol was a factor in the midday incident.
“I didn't detect the odor of alcohol,” Creech said.
Police are asking for anyone that witnessed the accident to notify the Payette County Sheriff's Office, (208) 642-6006.
In other public safety news, the High Desert Task Force along with the Malheur County Sheriff's Office and the Malheur Sheriff's SERT Team, executed a search warrant, which resulted in the arrest of an Ontario man.
Police arrested Rodolfo Luna, 60, at his residence at 3527 Northwest Sixth Ave. During the search, police located a handgun and a small amount of cocaine at the residence.
“The search warrant was the culmination of a month-long investigation,” Malheur County Undersheriff Brian Wolfe said.
Luna was charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of a firearm and was transported to the Malheur County Jail.
Two Ontario juveniles were referred to the Malheur County Juvenile Department on Monday in connection to a weekend crime spree at an Ontario business. Wolfe said the spree occurred sometime Sunday at Valley Paving and Asphalt, 518 Ontario Heights Rd.
The juveniles allegedly broke into the business, wrecked vehicles, spray- painted company vehicles with orange paint and backed a tractor into a building.
“Two pickups were taken from the site and driven around,” Wolfe said. “One became stuck in a ditch and one was run into a building. They broke a door into the shop. ”
Wolfe did not have a final estimate on the damage, and said the company was still finalizing the cost of the damage.
“We were investigating the incident on Monday when we became aware of the suspects,” Wolfe said.
The male juveniles were charged with six counts of criminal mischief, three counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, two counts of criminal trespass and theft in the third degree.

And this isn't "racist," because Islam is not a race, anymore than Communism or Nazism are races, both of which killed far fewer people than Islam.
Disgusting. "
