Vale's volleyball team was unable to stop Nampa Christian's winning streak last night. The Trojans' 17-25, 13-25, 15-25 win over the Vikings puts Nampa Christian at 7-0 for the season and 1-0 in league.
At the beginning of the third game, the Vikings were able to come ahead by a few points but were unable to maintain the lead.
"They are a very offensive-oriented team," said Vale head coach Mary Ann Standage. "They have a huge attack. It becomes a form of intimidation. All they have to do is walk out on the court and warm up, and they're intimidating."
Senior Lindsay Forseth lead Nampa Christian in kills with 14. Erika Schaub, a junior, lead in service points with 15. Melissa Blamiers, also a junior, followed with 14.
"We've got a good group of girls," said Nampa Christian's head coach Larry Downs. "The girls have good passing and just being able to run our plays. If we pass well we'll be hard to defend."
The Vikings' Elisa Mooney, a senior, and Paige Sappe, a junior, led their team in kills with seven each. Stacie Keller had 20 kill assists. Amy Barlow had 14 service points.
"Nampa Christian has always had a good program," said Standage. "They are great hitters. They handle the ball really well."
The Trojans will try to maintain their winning streak tonight in Marsing at 7 p.m. The Vikings open up league play on Thursday at Grant Union. They are now 7-5.
