To Cheyenne Social Club owner Steve Recla, it seems a bit ironic that as the South struggles to recover from the effects of Hurricane Katrina, Recla is opening his restaurant patio that has a distinctly New Orleans feel.
Wrought-iron chairs and tables topped by red canvas umbrellas are arranged across the patio, while statuary, and planters filled with a riot of colors and textures add visual interest to the large space. Water cascading from a large stone fountain is the perfect, soothing complement to relaxation.
Recla said he wasn't sure what inspired him to open the patio, which will feature live music Thursday through Saturday nights.
"Perhaps, stupidity," he joked, although Recla does takes his restaurant business very seriously.
The Cheyenne Social Club has been a fixture in the Ontario restaurant community since its humble beginnings as a bus station and has enjoyed a number of owners before Recla purchased the restaurant two years ago.
"We offer the only fine dining restaurant in the area until you reach Nampa," Recla proclaimed.
The outdoor patio features its own list of entrees, salads and drinks and a full and varied wine-list adds to the drink possibilities. When building the patio, Recla tried to keep things local, procuring the majority of his building supplies and decor from area businesses.
