Echanis receives full scholarship

The Ontario Basque Club, Inc. is pleased to announce the winner of its annual scholarship.
This year, the recipient is Ontario High School graduate Drew Echanis.
Echanis is the son of John and Mary Echanis, Ontario.
The scholarship is a full tuition scholarship to Treasure Valley Community College for the 2003-2004 school year.
While attending OHS, Echanis was involved in many school and extra-curricular activities.
In addition, he consistently achieved the honor roll.
Echanis was an active member of the National Honor Society and maintained a 3.8 grade point average throughout his four years of high school.
He completed his Certificate of Initial Mastery and received an Honor's Diploma at graduation.
Echanis participated in football and baseball while at OHS and received several honors.
In football, Echanis was selected first team Greater Oregon League offensive player, and first team Greater Oregon League defensive squad.
He also had the honor of being chosen as the all-state first team defensive back.
In baseball, Echanis was selected for the first team Greater Oregon League and is playing in the state playoffs this week.
Their first game was May 28.
Echanis plans to attend TVCC two years and then will transfer to a four year college to major in sports therapy, rehabilitation and training.
